Up the Tower![]() ![]()
UP the Tower, supported by national sponsor DHL, brought the surf to the city by turning the Queen Street Mall into an urban beach, complete with sand and surf rescue towers. Corporate, media and sporting identities rescued surf lifesavers by pledging more than $70,000 for essential volunteer services as part of the Surf Life Saving Foundation’s 10th annual UP THE TOWER fundraiser. Celebrities including Aussie music legend Normie Rowe, Nine weatherman Gary Youngberry and Brisbane Roar chairman Chris Bombolas joined more than 50 towersitters in the Queen Street Mall on Wednesday, September 16 to go “on patrol” for Surf Life Saving. Long-time surf lifesaving supporters Westpac raised an impressive $15,500 alone and took out an entire tower throughout the event. The Surf Life Saving Foundation would like to thank DHL and all the towersitters who gave up their time to support Surf Life Saving services in Queensland at this annual event.
