Helicopter Crewperson 

Surf Life Saving Queensland is seeking applications from highly self-motivated, experienced and appropriately qualified persons to fill the above position.

The key function of the position is primarily responsible for carrying out the duties of a helicopter rescue crew person. He/she supports the Chief Pilot in attending to operational and administrative requirements associated with SLSQ’s rescue Helicopter services.

The successful applicant will be an important member of the SLSQ team with the following attributes-

  • Appropriate qualifications and experience as a helicopter rescue crewperson
  • Have been a member of a SLSC and have served on the beach as a surf lifesaver
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to pass the SLSQ helicopter crew fitness test
  • High level of lifesaving knowledge and experience
  • Good administrative skills (computer, typing and report writing skills)
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • High level of empathy and understanding of the working and demands of a volunteer based organisation
  • Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic
  • Ability to travel and spend time away from home
  • Ability to work weekends

A salary package plus 9% superannuation will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Brisbane Lifesaving Service Coordinator  

Surf Life Saving Queensland is seeking applications from highly motivated, experienced and appropriately qualified individual to take up this challenging role.

The key functions of this position are as follows:

  • Coordinate and oversee the administration and delivery of the day to day operations of all Brisbane Lifesaving Services and programs
  • Attend meeting of the State Lifesaving Committee, State Lifesaving Operations Support Services Panel, and other groups and special project committees.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, induction and development of Brisbane Lifesaving Service volunteers, trainers and leaders in line with project outcomes and timeframes
  • Develop training plan for new and existing coordinators leaders and recruits incorporating Surf Life Saving Awards and relevant SES accreditations
  • Liaise closely and develop positive working relationships with external agencies which are involved in Emergency Management, in the greater Brisbane area
  • Maintain a comprehensive service profile/database on all project related information

Skills / Attributes: 

  • Hold the relevant Lifesaving Awards
  • Very sound knowledge of Surf Life Saving
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessing preferred
  • Sound knowledge of emergency services management
  • Very good analytical/research skills
  • High level of negotiation and communication skills
  • Sound ability to write policies, protocols etc
  • Excellent administrative skills (computer, typing and report writing skills)
  • Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic
  • A flexible approach to work hours
  • Hold a current Bus license preferred
  • Must be a holder or to obtain a Queensland Government Working with Children’s - Blue Card

State Lifesaving Coordinator

Surf Life Saving Queensland is seeking applications from highly motivated, experienced and appropriately qualified individual to take up this challenging role.

The key functions of this position are as follows:

  • Coordinate and oversee the administration and delivery of the day to day operations of all volunteer services and programs
  • Maintain an up-to-date SLSQ Incident Report Database and ensure all trends and recommendations are report and follow-up actions are carried out and assist with the collation of all Lifesaving Statistical information
  • Develop and maintain an information warehouse on all Queensland beaches including but not limited to maps, fatalities, rescues, visitations, infrastructure trends and current ABSMP ratings
  • Produce an annual Queensland Coastal Safety Report
  • Monitor and report on issues and information likely to have an impact on Surf Life Saving services.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and Management of a Quality Assurance / Accreditation scheme for Surf Life Saving
  • Review and /or develop ‘best practice policies, protocols, position statements’ relating to Surf Life Saving Services and programs
  • Coordinate and oversee SLSQ’s Brisbane Lifesaving Project and work outputs of the Brisbane Lifesaving Services Coordinator
  • Maintain an Internal Audit Schedule of Club Internal Audits and report and follow up on Audit findings
  • Assist with the preparation, management and reconciliation of grant application relative to lifesaving service programs.

Australian Lifeguard Service – Queensland is seeking suitable applicants to fill two permanent Lifeguard positions at Townsville.

Successful candidates shall:

  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service and good public relations skills.
  • Be available to work flexible shifts.
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Bronze Medallion, Advanced Resuscitation Certificate, and Operational First Aid Certificate.
  • Able to complete a 800m Pool Swim in 15 mins.
  • Demonstrate a high level of physical fitness.

Lifesaving Development Officer - Townsville Region

Surf Life Saving Queensland is seeking applications from highly motivated, experienced and appropriately qualified individual to take up this challenging role.

The key functions of this position are as follows:

  • Ensure the effective delivery of volunteer lifesaving services
  • Coordinate the implementation of high quality training and development programs for Trainers and Assessors
  • Provide advice and support to Clubs on effective membership recruitment and retention programs
  • Coordinate the delivery of regional junior, youth and leadership development programs
  • Oversee ‘member welfare’ education and compliance programs
  • Ensure the effective delivery of surf sports development programs
  • Oversee and coordinate beach safety education programs in the region
