North Barrier Region
| | | About the Region | North Barrier Branch is one of six branches in Queensland that co-ordinates Lifesaving, Sport Sports, Community awareness activities and has eight affiliated Surf Life Saving Clubs under it?s watchful eye. Our area stretches from Forrest Beach near Ingham, approximately 1-1/2 hours north of Townsville to Sarina in the south, approximately 5-1/2 hours from Townsville.
The Arcadian and Picnic Bay clubs have clubhouses located on beautiful Magnetic Island. Both clubs were fortunate to be allocated land from the Townsville City Council when they were re-vamping the Strand to build clubhouses and both clubs have done so. The Strand is a magnificent showpiece with locals and tourists enjoying the surroundings.
The Ayr club is located at Alva Beach near the sugar township, of Ayr, 50 minutes south of Townsville. Continuing south for another hour you will reach Bowen where their club is situated at beautiful Queens beach.
Approximately four hours south of Townsville is another sugar township, Mackay. They have a magnificent new clubhouse located at the Mackay Harbour Beach. A further twenty minutes south of Mackay is the Sarina Club. It has a beautiful setting with an abundance of beach to accommodate a large carnival.
Last but not least is our newest club Eimeo that is situated on one of the northern beaches of Mackay.
While up our way, pop in and enjoy the hospitality of all or any one of our 8 clubs.
