JUPITERS SUMMER SURF GIRL 2009/2010

The 2009/2010 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl drew to an end on Saturday, May 22 in grand style with Paige Cooper of North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club being crowned the 2010 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl Winner. Paige not only took home the 2010 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl title but also a fabulous Suzuki Alto.

16 entrants were in the program this year with representatives from our northernmost club, Port Douglas to Queensland's most southern club, Rainbow Bay. The final judging was held at Jupiters Hotel & Casino from May 19-22, with the winner announced at the Gala Ball on Saturday May, 22.

The Jupiters Summer Surf Girl Runner-Up was awarded to Louisa Jones from Point Lookout SLSC. Megan Slattery of Burleigh Heads/Mowbray Park SLSC took out the award for Jupiters Summer Surf Girl Highest Fundraiser with an astonishing total of $112,598.33 raised for her club. The 2010 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl Award for Innovation was awarded to Heather Scott from Ayr SLSC.

We commend each of the entrants, all of whom achieved and exceeded their personal and club’s goals as they balanced work, studies and patrolling alongside the commitment to fundraising as a Jupiters Summer Surf Girl entrant. We are pleased to announce the entrants collectively raised a massive $739,638.96 proving that with some good time management, a great attitude and a passion for what they do they can make a huge difference raising vital funds and awareness for Surf  Life Saving within their local communities.

We would also like to thank all the sponsors and supporters, particularly Jupiters Hotel & Casino, for their ongoing support and for ensuring the success of this program and assisting our volunteer surf lifesavers keep watch over the 30 million visitors to the state’s beautiful beaches each year.
